What the visitor's tax isand what it pays for
As a guest on the Baltic island of Fehmarn you are required to pay a visitor's tax. It isn't something the campsite invented: it's a levy of the municipality of Fehmarn, charged per adult and depending on the length of your stay, and it comes on top of your accommodation price.
It pays for the things that make a stay on the island what it is: paths and public spaces, the beach service and lifeguarding, the tourist information offices and part of the events programme. In return you get the ostseecard, which brings you a good number of benefits while you're here.
The digital ostseecardwith WELCMpass
Since spring 2021 the visitor's tax and the registration form can also be handled digitally. WELCMpass, a digital system run by Guide2 GmbH, simplifies everything around the visitor's tax on Fehmarn.
Through the digital WELCMpass you pay the tax directly to the tourist service and receive the digital ostseecard there too, cashless, for your travelling companions as well. If you'd rather hold the card in your hand, you can print it at the card terminals. It saves time at check-in because you can sort it out from home.

- A long list of discounts at restaurants, cafés, attractions and shops all over Fehmarn, held in the app as coupons to show.

- Year-round advice at two tourist information offices on the island.
- Infrastructure
- Well-kept cycling and walking paths with wildflower verges and benches, plus play areas, sports facilities and green spaces.
- Beach promenade
- Around 1.8 km of maintained beach promenade at Burgtiefe.
- Beaches and facilities
- Beaches cleaned continuously in high season with intensive waste collection, over 40 public toilets and many beach showers.
- Lifeguarding
- DLRG lifeguards at Südstrand, Meeschendorf, Bojendorf/Wallnau and Grüner Brink during the bathing season.
- Events
- An extensive events and activities programme, with free entry to major events such as the rapeseed blossom festival, the Midsummer Bulli Festival and the beach volleyball tour.
- Wi-Fi
- Free Wi-Fi at Südstrand, at the beach in Meeschendorf, at Bojendorf beach, at Burgtiefe marina, in central Burg, at Burgstaaken harbour and at the harbour in Orth.
- Dog beaches
- Four designated dog beaches: Grüner Brink, two at Meeschendorf and one at Bojendorf.
- Bathing water quality
- Bathing water quality assured through regular testing.
- Community bus
- Part of the visitor's tax funds the community bus, which means reduced fares for you as a guest.
